LESSONS

Circle Up

All styles are taught, including Pop, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Metal, Classical, Bossa Nova, and more.

In addition to various playing techniques and music styles, you'll also learn how to use amplifiers, effects, pedals, pickups, picks, strings, and more.

It's important to me that you don't feel your creativity is stifled by simply playing songs note-for-note.

The focus is on understanding the instrument and music rather than perfectly reproducing existing rhythms and melodies.

We'll work together to achieve your "goals" through a rough semester plan on my part, combined with your ideas. The lessons are tailored individually to your wishes and ideas and could look like this:

In the first 4 to 6 semesters:

  • Reading and writing sheet music (leadsheet)
  • Simple rhythmic structures
  • Accompanying songs with basic chords
  • Ear training
  • Incorporating "modern" teaching aids from the first lesson, such as drum machines, play-alongs, YouTube, etc.
  • Theoretical and practical introduction to the world of music (history, development, typical cadences, etc.)

In the following 6 to 8 semesters:

The lessons will focus more on jazz-specific topics.

These will be taught theoretically and practically through:

• Practicing scales (arpeggios, triads, etc.)

• Various modes (e.g., church modes in major and minor)

• Transposing and transcribing compositions

• Improvisation over complex chord progressions

• Composing and arranging your own songs

In my opinion, private lessons are the most efficient way to learn guitar playing.

This allows you to determine the content and pace of your learning—and we do what YOU want!
